Extra Life 2016

Extra Life 2016

In ages long past, a band of miscreant nerds built a YouTube empire with a series called AdventureCraft. But empires rise and fall, and after sixty episodes, the Acadia Geeks retired their show and moved on to other games.

Once a year, however, they return to uphold the time-honoured tradition of playing games to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and this year will be no exception. Indeed, it will be exceptional, for this year, our heroes return to their Minecraft roots.

Welcome to Voldrune for Extra Life 2016.

What is Extra Life?

Extra Life is an annual charity event in which folks from around the world get together and pledge to play games for 24 hours in order to raise money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. This may sound like a strange way to raise money, but since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised over 22 million dollars for pediatric programs around the world.

The Acadia Geeks have been doing this together since 2013, and we're going to keep the streak going again this year.

How can I participate?

Want to actually come play with us? You'll need Minecraft and Discord. Here's the info for both:

Donate

We're doing this to raise money for IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. IWK provides pediatric and obstetric care for the Maritime provinces of eastern Canada. The money we raise doing Extra Life every year goes toward funding services and programs that aren't covered by insurance or other restricted funding sources.

Over the past three years, I've raised over a thousand dollars for IWK and Oakland Children's Hospital. All donations are tax deductable, and 100% of the proceeds go to helping hospitals help kids in need.

If you'd like to help me meet my goal this year, feel free to check out my participant page at extra-life.org/participant/tomheinan.

However you choose to participate, I greatly appreciate it, and I hope to see you on the 29th!
